TUSHETIAN WOMEN’S ETHNIC COSTUME AND ITS MODIFIED FORMS
Abstract
The heritage of one epoch aligned to national and folk traditions would become the ground for development of the next. The culture of Georgia that has evolved over the country's long history and peculiar style of clothing alongside common Caucasian traditions are tightly interrelated. Due to its geographical location Georgia has always had relationships with other new world and old world countries which resulted in establishing different forms for different regions. After a long-term use it lost its initial original shape and mostly remained sustainable in mountains. Their clothes have lots of original elements and a wide range of decorating means create unique ones like Tushatian, Khevsuretian, Rachuli, Mokhevuri, Ajarian, İngiloylar and other complexes.
The above mentioned complexes are studied to certain degree apart from ethnic costumes of Tushetian women with 'outstanding' originality and design.
Ethnic dress ranges from a single piece to a whole ensemble of items.NNone of these items that has come up to date seem to be complicated. It includes the following parts: Inner wear- undergarments, underwear; Outfits : Jubba, (dress-jubba ,Chokha), with additive elements clutches, aprons, belts; Upepr wear Chokha and Leather fur, Koka i.e. leather dress. Instead of Jubba mostly separate items blouses and skirts were used after the factory-made fabrics became common.
The article constitutes detailed information and accurate description of ethnic costumes including garments, veils, jewelry, shoes and different accessories approved by Tushetian women. In pursuit of new one this ethnic style plays significant role as a source of inspiration which motivates us to create something new. As its motives are neglected to certain degree nowadays ,special clothes has undergone modification targeted for the youth of modern society and all these sketches are included in this paper. As the traditional costumes of each ethnic has special model in color and the way of decorating, modern versions retain characteristic coloring. You can see modified elements of jubbas, upper garments, clutches, mandili (veil) leather dresses, aprons, belts, jewelry.
At this stage to study spiritual ethnical values, make traditional costumes integrated and provide sound basis for its popularization in Georgian reality highlights its topicality.
