Abstract

The paper examines the economic threats associated with the post-communist transformation of the economy, one of the main reasons for which was the lack of a theory of the transition from a command to a market economy. A separate threat was created by the fact that the economic policy of the post-communist transformation did not take into account the presence in a particular country of the corresponding institutions of statehood. The economic threats characteristic of both paths of transition, from a command to a market economy - “Shock Therapy” and “Gradualism” - are discussed.
